At a very early age Mary Jo was recognized by her teachers
for her artistic abilities and put in special classes in Junion High and High
School, but it wasn’t until taking classes in life drawing and painting at
Michigan State University that she began her journey in art. After graduation
she not only kept up with painting and life drawing but also picked up hand
building pottery. On a consistent basis she worked during her 20’s & 30’s but
then life’s challenges took priority until about 2 years ago when she was able
to resume painting.
It’s been a challenge, a feeling of accomplishment, and a
pleasure to come back to the art world. What I want is for the viewer to see
some depth, feel the color and movement…and gain an experience. I hope you see
new things again & again.
